    Radiant College Welcomes International Writers for Nepal–Sri Lanka Literary Exchange

    Radiant College, Shankarpur, Tilottama, hosted a special Literary Symposium for Nepal–Sri Lanka Cultural Harmony on 15th November 2025, bringing together writers, scholars, and literary representatives from Nepal and Sri Lanka. The event was organized by Pathak Manch, Butwal, in collaboration with Sabuddhi, a renowned literary organization from Sri Lanka.

     

     

    The symposium aimed to foster cultural exchange, literary cooperation, and intellectual dialogue between the two nations. Participants discussed shared literary values, historical connections, and opportunities for deeper artistic collaboration.

    The event began with a heartfelt welcome speech by Radiant College Principal, Mr. Ananta Pandey, who expressed his appreciation for the participants and highlighted the importance of literature in building bridges between nations.

    Vice Principal Er. Prakash Poudel, along with faculty members and students of Radiant College, also attended the program, contributing to its successful coordination and warm academic environment.

     

     

    Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

     

    A major highlight of the symposium was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pathak Manch (Nepal) and Sabuddhi (Sri Lanka), aimed at establishing long-term cooperation in literary and cultural activities.

     

    Key Areas of Collaboration

     

    The MoU outlines cooperation in the following areas:

    • Exchange of literary materials including journals, magazines, and research publications
    • Translation of significant works between Nepali and Sinhala/Tamil languages
    • Joint seminars, workshops, poetry readings, and festival participation
    • Writer/artist residency and exchange programs
    • Mutual promotion of each organization’s literary activities and achievements

     

     

    Operational & Governance Provisions

     

    The MoU also includes important operational guidelines to ensure smooth collaboration:

    • Activity Agreements:
      Each cooperative activity will be determined jointly and agreed upon in writing before implementation.
    • Cost Responsibilities:
      Unless otherwise agreed, each party will bear its own expenses in fulfilling its responsibilities.
    • Term & Renewal:
      The MoU is effective for one (1) year, with the option for renewal upon mutual agreement at least three months prior to expiration.
    • Termination Clause:
      Either party may terminate the MoU with a 60-day written notice, without affecting ongoing projects already agreed upon in writing.
    • Non-binding Nature:
      The MoU is a statement of intent, not a legally binding contract, and is not subject to arbitration or litigation.
    • Amendments:
      Changes can only be made through a written agreement signed by both parties.
    • Intellectual Property:
      Copyrights or intellectual property arising from joint projects will be addressed separately in project-specific agreements.

     

    The document was signed by Madhav Gautam, Coordinator, Pathak Manch (Nepal) and D. Thameera Manju, Chairman, Sabuddhi (Sri Lanka) on 15th November 2025.

     

     

    Speaking at the event, representatives from both nations emphasized the role of literature in building cultural harmony and strengthening people-to-people ties. The symposium served as a meaningful platform for exchanging perspectives on the rich literary traditions of Nepal and Sri Lanka.

     

     

    Radiant College expresses gratitude to Pathak Manch for choosing the college as the venue for this remarkable international literary collaboration.     The program featured poetry recitations by Nepali writer Dil Sahani and Sri Lankan literary figures Anurashree and Malik Thuihthe, adding a vibrant artistic touch to the event. Likewise, representatives from Pathak Manch — Sarita Shris, Madhav Prasad Paudel, and Krishna Pandey — spoke on the literary relationship between Nepal and Sri Lanka as well as the current landscape of Nepali literature.

     

    Sri Lankan scholars Dr. Krill Premanayake and Dr. Amarasiri Wikramarathne, along with Radiant College Principal  Ananta Pandey, Manoj Bhusal, and Prof. Shankar Bhandari, expressed their happiness to welcome the Sri Lankan literary delegates to Nepal. The welcome program was graced by the presence of senior literary personalities including Jang Bahadur Shah, Dr. Murari Parajuli, Prof. Dr. Baburam Gyawali, Vanamali Nirakar, Rudra Gyawali, researcher Ram Chandra Shrestha, Ramesh Pandey, Indira Aryal, Deepak Bishwakarma, Gyanu KC, and many others. The Sri Lankan literary delegation, which arrived in Nepal via India, had stayed overnight at the sacred birthplace of Buddha in Lumbini on Friday before attending the event.

     

     

    The symposium concluded on a warm and joyful note with informal discussions over traditional Nepali refreshments, including tea and batuk, giving participants an authentic taste of local hospitality. The friendly interactions further strengthened the bond between Nepalese and Sri Lankan representatives.

     

     

    Radiant College continues to remain a strong supporter of literary activities, reading culture, creative writing, and cultural exchange.
